  • Payment of a fair price.
  • Transparency and accountability.
  • Commitment to non-discrimination, gender equality and freedom of association (union).
  • Promotion of Fair Trade.
  • Ensure good working conditions
  • Facilitate capacity development.
  • Respect for the environment.
  • Ensure absence of child labor and forced labor.
  • Capacity building.
  • Creating opportunities for economically disadvantaged producers.

The prize is awarded for sales under the fair trade system it is not defined by the market but by the economic situation of producers. Therefore, the price of a product cannot be unique in the world, in every country, in every region, but rather defined according to each situation. The only case in which you can set the price according to market price is when market prices are artificially high according to the Stock Exchange (cocoa and coffee, among others).

Why to choose organic coffee? Thu, 08 Jun 2017 20:42:17 +0000 Continue reading "Why to choose organic coffee?"]]> There are many reasons to prefer the organic coffee to conventional coffee. The organic coffee is grown without using chemical fertilizers, pesticides or herbicides. That makes it a healthier than conventional coffee. The environmental component is also important when judging the qualities of organic coffee. To stop using methods harmful to the environment is helping to reduce the pollution load caused by agriculture. Let us not forget that coffee is for many people a product of everyday nature, so a change of mentality in terms of coffee consumed in a good portion of the world population would bring great benefits to the global ecosystem.

Planting and cultivation of organic coffee have enormous benefits for both environmental preservation and for the preservation of health. The properties of organic coffee do not differ from the health benefits of conventional coffee. In particular, they highlight their stimulatory effects of the central nervous system in addition to its high content of antioxidants that could slow the ageing process.

Moreover, we have studied its medicinal properties in inhibiting the progression of diseases such as diabetes, Parkinson’s disease, Alzheimer’s disease and liver cirrhosis. However, because it contains caffeine in its composition, its use should not be abusive and there may be circumstances where it is absolutely forbidden or restricted use. Such is the case of patients with hypertension, small children and pregnant women, who like what happens with other alkaloids, should not overdo their consumption.

Many organic coffees are both coffees sold under fair trade practices.

Intensive cultivation cafes labor. Buy organic coffee marketed precisely means supporting families who invest a lot of work in agricultural production. In most cases, it is resource-poor farmers deserve a more dignified than that offered by conventional coffee markets payment.
